How Can A Stuttering Person Be Defined?

Just like other people, a stuttering person can’t be defined based on their stuttering. Sure you could go and look up the definition of stutter/stuttering, but it would only be a brief synopsis.

From what I know and have seen there are always negative connotations for stu people.
Where do they come from you ask? From ignorance! I say I’ve been a stuttering person all my life.

Stuttering in my opinion is one of the hardest things a person can live with, especially if young and have no positive reinforcement. I’ve had terrible times from being made fun of, to not being able to socialise as I would like to.

Oh suicide you were thinking!
It’s crossed my mind, yes. When younger I really had a hard time with my stuttering. You feel alone, frustrated, and start thinking negative. You see, most negative stuttering people focus on all the things they can’t do, stutterers who simply let their stuttering over take and get them down.

I think there comes a time in every stuttering persons life when they go through a low period, let’s face it we are just one of the many odd balls out there. But its up to us, not just as stutterers, but as people, to look within ourselves and see what really makes us.

I now focus on writing and communication with other stutterers who have also had to deal with immense scrutiny because we are not understood. I have written various stuttering related blogs, joined many stuttering forums and communities which is great, finding others like you gives you such sense of relieve and knowing your not alone is a big deal to us all.

My name is Thaddeus, I stutter, stuttering therapy didn’t work for me, and I accept it.

I Think that 90% of making a good first impression is in being a good , if not in great speaker .. so it’s pretty much depending on the weakest side of me , and that’s having to use my tongue in the whole process !

I try to tell myself I’ll make it , and it’s ok , and there’s nothing I can really do about it , except drugging myself , or go totally drunk that would work :P ..

But I just can’t help being worried about it , I don’t know if that’s a healthy thing , or am I just being extremely anxious , when it’s not really worth it !?”
