Alkaline Water or Kangen Water as A Healthy Alternative!
We are one of the lucky few who lives in a small city where we get quality water from the Sierras. The fact is that there is a problem with drinking water today, the reason why most consumers would rather spend ten to twenty times the price of tap water and buy bottled water. However, most bottled water are simply tap water that are merely filtered or go through an additional reverse osmosis process, then the missing minerals added back. By most standards, drinking water in most cities today contains harmful chemicals, although in “acceptable”. Federal, state and city laws and guidelines govern levels of chemicals permitted in municipal water, which are monitored suffciently. Chlorine, a deadly chemical, is introduced to destroy harmful bacteria and germs that naturally occurs in the water processing and delivery to the consumer. We would normally act to ensure within our homes chlorine, thrihalomethanes and other harmful chemicals not ingested by ourselves and our families. However, most of us do not think or worry too muchabout this apparent water problem, and just like anything else, we put our trust to the regulators and inspectors who we think have our best interest in mind. I personally know folks who work in the water district of a couple of major cities, and they are honestly doing their job maintaining the quality standards of the water as they understand it. To them, the contamination is minimal and is a known risk. Whether we like it or not, our water is contaminated.
Although I personally recommend the Enagic brand, do your due diligence, ask for a live demo, try the water for a month or so to experience the health benefits, before you make the decision to acquire an ionizer or Kangen machine. Not all machines are effective, in fact, in my experience, only the Enagic machine lives up to my expectations and have provided proven results. Unfortunately, only Enagic distributors actively provide a “try-before-you-buy” business model. The competitions may be cheaper, but there is no way to test drive them without coughing up $2,000 or more. Also, the competition berates the network marketing distribution model of Enagic – but I would argue that this is one way to acquire a machine for FREE, since it will eventually pay for itself if an owner becomes an Kangen advocate and a distributor. At a minimum, the education that we Enagic SD501 Water or Kangen Water advocates provide is a valuable service, whether we make profit or not.
A toxin can be defined as any material that doesn’t belong in the body. It so happens that the majority toxins have a positive charge. Bear in mind that a negative charge is good, and a positive charge is bad. The negative ions in alkaline ionized water attach themselves to toxins and help begin the process to eliminate the toxins from the body.
Kanen Water is repeatedly called micro cluster water. Micro cluster is a reference to the outline that when water is ionized, the amount of water molecules that group together is reduced. Typically, water molecules group in number of 10, while ionized water groups water molecules in an order 6. This cutback in size of the cluster is able to infiltrate body tissues more easily.
Two properties of Kangen Water comprise the antioxidant benefits. This water has a negative charge, and has hydroxyl ions. This negative charge is associated this oxidation-lessening potential or “ORP”. A negative ORP as found in alkaline ionized water can reduce oxidation. Normal tap water is regularly not alkaline and is certainly not ionized. Tap water is found to have oxidative properties with a positive ORP. And any substance you eat with a positive ORP will add to an over acid state in your body.
Note that all fresh fruits and vegetables have a negative ORP and thus are antioxidants. In all cases, when we consume antioxidant substances with a negative ORP, we are aiding the cutback of the oxidative aging process.
The negatively charged hydroxyl ions are essentially a molecule with one hydrogen atom and one oxygen atom (HO-). These ions, with the negative charge carry with them an extra electron, which can be given to free radicals. This cancels the oxidative properties of the free radicals.
Why is this imperative? Disease thrives in an acidic environment. An acid environment in the body is what you want to work against by a change in your diet. An uncomplicated change is in the type of water you drink. The prevalent secret when it comes to maintaining and/or achieving health is to drink alkaline ionized water.
Ionized water is found in mountain streams. Water running through rocks will have an ionizing effect with the creation of hydroxyl ions. There is much discussion within this topic about whether you should drink whatever water you can get (because you body can take it), or recognize that your body is a delicate chemistry project, and choose to select circumspectly what you drink. I’ve chosen the latter; as I want to do everything I can to preserve my health. When you hear about recent stories about people dying of cancer.

An acid is a material that increases the attentiveness of hydrogen ions (H+) in water. A base is a substance that decreases the concentration of hydrogen ions, in other words, escalating the intensity of hydroxide ions OH-. Kangen Water works to correct this.
The degree of acidity or alkalinity of a solution is measured in terms of a value known as pH, which is the negative logarithm of the dilution of hydrogen ions:
pH = 1/log[H+] = -log[H+]
What is pH?
On the pH scale, which ranges from 0 on the acidic end to 14 on the alkaline end, a solution is neutral if its pH is 7. At pH 7, water contains equal concentrations of H+ and OH- ions. Substances with a pH less than 7 are acidic because they contain a higher concentration of H+ ions. Substances with a pH higher than 7 are alkaline because they contain a higher strength of OH- than H+. The pH scale is a log scale so a change of one pH unit means a tenfold change in the strength of hydrogen ions. The ph of Kangen Water is from 8.5 to 9.5 on demand.
Importance of balancing pH
Living things are extremely sensitive to pH and function best (with certain exceptions, such as certain portions of the digestive tract) when solutions are nearly neutral. Most interior living matter (excluding the cell nucleus) has a pH of about 6.8.
Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.3. Various special mechanisms aid in stabilizing these fluids so that cells will not be subject to appreciable fluctuations in pH. Substances which serve as mechanisms to stabilize pH are called buffers. Buffers have the capacity to bond ions and remove them from solution whenever their strength begins to rise. In opposition, buffers can release ions whenever their concentration begins to fall. Buffers thus help to minimize the fluctuations in pH. This is an important function because many biochemical reactions normally occurring in living organisms either release or use up ions.
Oxygen: Too much of a good thing?
Oxygen is elemental to survival. It is relatively stable in the air, but when too much is absorbed into the body it can become active and unstable and has a propensity to attach itself to any biological molecule, including molecules of healthy cells. The chemical activity of these free radicals is due to one or more pairs of unpaired electrons.
About 2% of the oxygen we normally breathe becomes active oxygen, and this amount increases to around 20% with aerobic exercise.
Such free radicals with unpaired electrons are unstable and have a high oxidation potential, which means they are capable of stealing electrons from other cells. This chemical mechanism is very useful in disinfectants such as hydrogen peroxide and ozone which can be used to sterilize wounds or medical instruments. Inside the body these free radicals are of great benefit due to their ability to attack and eliminate bacteria, viruses and other waste products.
Kangen Water is so important because it works as an antioxidant and also works to bring up the alkalinity in your body jus a bit. I have done a lot of research on this and have found that Enagic Kangen Water is the best Ionized water with the strongest afects on the body.
