Why We Accumulate Body Fat And How It Is Used Inside The Body

Back in the times before there were scales and health facilities, the early men and women were battling not against the bulge, but for their survival. They weren’t troubled about the way that their garments fit since they wanted to obtain provisions in order to stay alive. While this sounds melodramatic, early man was actually the reason for the way our metabolisms operate today.

If you’re placed into a position where you don’t know if you’re going to be able to get hold of foods, the body finds ways to adapt to these dire conditions. And that survival instinct is why we collect fats.

The Truth about Body fat

Body fat isn’t actually an enemy. It helps protect our inner organs and helps to store energy for later use. The difficulty with extra fat is if we hold too much and it begins to influence other components of our body. For instance, visceral fat is that which is stored in our belly and whilst that does protect our internal organs, it has also been attributed to higher cardiovascular disease as well as certain cancers.

Some fats can also seem into our bloodstream and thus cause problems in that manner. However, overall, it’s not fat that’s the foe nor is why we stockpile fat a problem – it’s just how much we’re holding onto.

The various kinds of fat that we eat

There are a number of different types of fat that we may take in and store in our body.

These consist of:

1) Saturated fats
2) Unsaturated fats

Saturated fats are the ‘bad’ fatty acids. These tend to be present in processed foods like chips and also pre-packaged foods. These fats are made out of extended chains of chemicals, which makes them difficult to break down within the body. You can find these as solids at room temperature, as in the case of butter. These kinds of fatty acids are connected with heart disease and also other heart related problems.

Unsaturated fats are the ‘good’ fats that you can consume. These come from natural resources like olives (as in olive oil) and also avocados. These are broken down into monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats. But they’re still a concern in why we store body fats as they are higher in calories than other lower fat choices.

Another unsaturated fat that are bad and is a most important concern in why we store fat is trans fats. Whilst these are created from vegetable oils, the means they are processed makes them hazardous for our bodies. The chemical arrangement of these fats makes them ‘sticky’ on our arteries and may trigger health troubles when eaten in larger quantities over time.

What fat does for our bodies

While we’ve touched open some of the causes why we accumulate body fats, there are others that you might not identify.

For example, females tend to stockpile more body fat in their bodies in order to be able to sustain the energy it takes to own a baby. Females stock up fat in their hips and their thighs for this reason. Not only does this fat cushion the body itself, but it also provides energy for the progress of the child’s growth.

Another reason why we store fat is to have the correct combination of chemicals to process certain natural vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins can only be used by the body if we contain fats to digest them with. Vitamins like A, K, and also D are all fat soluble. Without the fat on our bodies, these natural vitamins will not be used in crucial processes as well as growth and cell healing.

And yet another explanation why we accumulate body fats is because we require the fat to amend and regulate our body temperature. When you see babies that are immediately born, you will observe that they do not have a lot of fat on their bodies to control their temperature. As they mature and take in calories, they will become bigger and better able to remain warm. Our bodies as adults also need body fats to help keep in warmth as well.

The fact is that there are a lot of reasons why we accumulate fat, and whilst we might not like the look of all of it, it’s here for some especially important jobs. A little fat is a good thing.
